Choosing the Right 8 Man Tent
There is no doubt for many that camping is an enjoyable activity. It represents one of the few chances in the modern world to cut ties with the modern world, eschew modern technology, and get in touch with nature. However, getting in touch with nature does not mean simply strolling out of town and setting down a blanket; for most, camping involves a great deal of planning and forethought. It is especially important to equip oneself with the correct camping gear, and not just for the sake of ease or convenience. While comfort is important, choosing the right camping gear can also be a matter of safety and utility. Nowhere is this clearer than in choosing a tent. For a camping expedition involving a sizable group, the choice of an 8 man tent can provide significant benefits.
8 Man Alpine Camping Tent
When one generally thinks of a tent, an Alpine or domed tent is quite likely the tent being pictured. Kept in shape by flexible poles, these tents feature an irregular shape and a good deal of headroom. They are generally quite easy to put up, relying on the flexible rods for shape and stability, and come in a number of models and styles. Alpine tents are generally preferred for those who are taller, with average ceilings quite larger than their tunnel counterparts. However, room may be an issue in some models – so if considering a 4 man tent, an 8 man tent may actually be a better fit.
8 Man Tunnel Tent
Tunnel tents make use of a a pair of circular pole or hoops to maintain their unique circular shape. Rather than the high profile of a domed tent, tunnel tents are rather low to the ground (a problem for those who are quite tall) but more than make up for this fact with a greater overall internal space. Tunnel tents may not be the best fit for camping novices, though – by generally requiring external ropes or supports to keep upright, they do require a bit more work than their domed counterpart. However, for those looking to maximize internal room, the 8 man tunnel tent can be a great find.
Coleman 8 Man Tent
Coleman, a leading name in outdoor sports and camping, offers a variety of models of 8 man tents. The company generally offers superb weather proofing, and the 8 man models of their tents are absolutely no different. Combined with relatively easy set up and a number of perks in most models (separate rooms, multiple entrances and exits, greater head-space), Coleman’s tents are a great fit for both occasional campers and those looking to get a bit more out of their equipment since it offers different tent sizes like the 3 man tent if what you are looking for is a smaller tent.
Vango 8 Man Tents
For those wishing to use a tunnel tent, Vango offers a variety of 8 man models that combine a spacious interior and a rugged exterior. While not promising a lightning quick setup, Vango does provide a number of unique perks in its tunnel tents. Some models include a separate inner tent (useful as a separate room or a wardrobe), mesh doors and transparent windows, multiple points of entry that can be adapted to use as a covered porch, and internal organization that allows for a more orderly camping experience. While perhaps a bit better suited to those campers that have some experience with tunnel tents, Vango’s models are great for those that wish to have a bit of added comfort on their trip.
An 8 man tent can be very useful for those that travel in a large group, or for those that want a bit more space on their excursions. With a number of different models and styles on the market, and with strong offerings by both Coleman and Vango, finding a pop up tent, a roof tent or any type of tent to suit even the most finicky camper can be a relaxing experience. A good camping trip can be made in to a great trip with the proper preparation, and the best place to start is with a good tent.
