Last week i bought a 6 man tent, went out camping with my friends and we had a blast. If you love the outdoor activities and nature camping is something that you should do, I´m sure you are going to love it.

Finding the best 6 man tent for myself was pretty easy and straightforward, i went to amazon.com and checked the different 6 man tent brands available. Coleman, Gelert, Eureka and Coleman are some of the most reputable tent manufacturers, i ended up choosing the Coleman confidence 6 man tent. Purchasing a tent or any camping products such as a head torch, a double sleeping bag or a smaller 3 man tent is very easy, there is a wide variety of reviews that help you make an informed decision on buying what best suits your camping needs, whether you are looking for a high quality or a cheap 6 man tent, at Amazon you are going to find it, if not Ebay and Craiglist are other places to check when looking for tents for sale.

So to use my new tent, we planned a camping weekend with my girlfriend Caroline, and my pal Joe and his wife Sara. We drove out of Gotenburg and find an amazing campsite in Skane, a wonderful place by the lake. the weather was very nice so we were able to hang our portable hammocks and chill out drinking some beers and playing Frisbee. We had some great food cooked by my girlfriend and Joe did some fishing by the lake. There were many other campers with toy haulers and caravan awnings, they had some amazing equipment like solar lights and state of the art camper vans. We met some of them and were very friendly.

By night we slept in each couple in one of the two inner rooms of the tent, and we were very fortunate to have this waterproof great 6 man tent as it started to rain on the second night. So we sat on our folding camping chairs, set up our table in the living room area of the tent and had some amazing backgammon sessions using my head torch to light the board.

But all things end and after spending 3 wonderful days out in nature and enjoying my new 6 man tent, we went back to Goteborg city for another work week hoping to repeat the camping adventure very soon!

If you are interested in camping and in outdoors activities, one piece of equipment you must have is a tent. If your plans are to go camping with your family, then looking for the best 6 man tent is the way to go.

Having a 6 man tent is great for camping out in the wild or in campsites as they are waterproof and you can stay inside your “temporary home” while being very comfortable and dry. They are usually very spacious, with 2 inner rooms and a living side area. Sometimes one of the inner rooms are removable to offer the camper an even bigger inner area, especially for rainy days.

One of the most famous manufacturers of 6 man tents is Coleman, which offers a wide variety of high quality tens models at excellent prices:

Coleman Riverside 6 man tent from £149.99

Coleman Coastline Deluxe from £184.95

Coleman Ridgeline plus from £159.99

Coleman Mackenzie Cabin from £295.99

The other famous manufacturer of tents you may want to consider when looking for tents for sale is Gelert, a company that besides selling every kind of camping equipment such as a head torch, an inflatable mattress or a double sleeping bag, offers a great number of different models of 6 man tents:

Gelert Horizon Six Man Tentfrom £179.99

Gelert Cadiz Six Man Tent from £93.00

Gelert Horizon Six Man Tent – Riviera/Slate/Charcoal from £181.09

Gelert Nemesis Six Man Tent – Riviera/Charcoal from £155.46

Personally when I want to buy such an important piece of equipment, i prefer to do it in the “old style”, i enjoy going to the nearest outdoor´s store next to my house in Cambridge and see by myself what I´m about to purchase. But if you don´t have much time available, you can buy your tent on the internet in websites like Amazon or Ebay. This websites are virtual mega-stores that sell any kind of gear you could imagine like a 3 man tent, a pop up screen tent, folding camping chairs and camping beds.

Anyway, I´m sure that whatever model of 6 man tent you end up buying, you will be more than satisfied with the quality of a Coleman or a Gelert to have an amazing camping holiday with your family.

Last year I went travelling in the Southern African country of Mozambique with my family and as the accommodation prices in that country are so expensive for backpackers on a low budget, we decided to buy a 6 man tent.

It was very easy to find, we just had a look in the internet for tents for sale, read a few 6 man tent reviews and we decided that the Gelert horizon was the best 6 man tent for us. We could have bought a 3 man tent or a 4 man tent as we were four(the two kids John and Caroline, my wife Rachel and myself) but as our plans were not to move too much from place to place, we ended up buying a 6 man tent. Though it´s a bit more difficult to carry than a smaller tent, the Gelert Horizon weightieng twenty one kilograms, was the perfect choice.

As soon as we arrived to Maputo, the capital, we rented a car and went straight to Praia do Tofo in the province of Inhambane. We were recommended to visit the “Fatima campsite” and though it´s a quite precarious campground,it was good enough. The first days were very rainy, so we were lucky that our Gelert tent was waterproof and very spacious. Thanks to it´s two inner rooms we were able to enjoy some privacy while relaxing and sleeping on our camping beds. As it was winter it was a bit cold in the nights so we used our double sleeping bag to warm us.

When the rain stopped we were able to enjoy the outdoors and the nature of this stunning beach meet other campers and learn many new things about outdoor activities. During the day it was very hot but the Gelert tents are well known for their great ventilation, so we were able to take a nice nap while the kids were playing in the Indian ocean with their water inflatable mattress.

At Tofo there is a beautiful market were the local people sell all kinds of sea food, but as we are vegetarians, we bought some veggies, beans and cooked some great curries at the campsite facilities. Before sleeping we spent our time playing board games or reading a book inside the tent using my head torch to be able to see in the dark.

After Tofo we went to Vilankulos to do some snorkeling and diving in the Bazaruto archipelago, we also stayed on a campsite and slept in our 6 man tent. The facilities were full of very well prepared South African campers with a wide variety of camping gear such as toy hauler, caravan awnings and all kinds of tents, from a pop up screen tent to a beach tent. We were very fortunate to meet very nice people and share our camping experiences and tips. One thing we decided as soon as we arrived back to New York, was that we were going to start saving money to look for used caravans for sale and travel all the way down to Panama.

So in conclusion, I highly recommend to any camping fan to travel to Mozambique and to purchase a Gelert tent as it´s features and quality are simply great.

What is the best hiking trek that no nature lover or hiker enthusiast should ever miss? The Machu Picchu trek in Peru, South America. Also called Inca trail trek, it leads to the Machu Picchu ruins, which was the administrative and spiritual center of Inca civilization. Located about 112 kilometers North West of Cusco, Machu Picchu trek goes through the Andes and stretches as far as 325 square kilometers, covered and ornamented by cloud forests, gorgeous mountains, exotic animals and plants as well as Inca ruins.

Having only been unearthed in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, a South American history professor, Machu Picchu was buried for the longest time. The rediscovery of this important archaeological site became big news, not only because of its historical value but also of the rich varieties of flora and fauna that surround it. There was little wonder why in 1981 the Peruvian government declared it as the national protected nature park and two years later the UNESCO awarded it as one of the World Heritage sites. It is so popular in South America that more than 75,000 people visit Peru every year just to hike the trail.

However, the burgeoning number of visiting people raised concerns, especially from the environmental and history groups. They fretted that the trail was actually suffering from destruction that could not potentially be repaired. That is why the government of Peru limited the number of visitors that wished to hike Machu Picchu trail to only 200 trekkers a day. They also added in the regulation that independent trekking was no longer allowed without the existence of an official guide.
That brings us to the fact that hiking Machu Picchu is normally conducted in groups. If you are an individual traveler, you need to be a part of an ad-hoc group organized by an official agency to trek the trail. Or if you travel in small groups and you do not really want to blend in with strangers, you can have one of those agencies arrange a privatized Machu Picchu trek for a higher price.

The trekking agency is not a bad idea at all. They provide basically almost everything: 2 man tent, a ” hiking Machu Picchu trek map “, sleeping gear, English-speaking guide, three-day meals and porters to carry your bags. So it is a money value trek. All you need to do is walk and enjoy the scenic panorama around you.

Depending on your time availability and physical fitness, you may choose between the 4-day trail and the 2-day one. The first covers three difficult mountain passes. If you feel that you are physically fit, this should be the better trail to choose. Not only that it is more economical (prices begin at $400 per person including entrance fee), but it also provides you with breathtaking mountain and cloud forest sceneries as well as a number of Inca ruins. The trek normally starts at Qorihuayrachina (Km 88), then passes three formidable mountain hikes where the highest elevation reaches 4,200 meters, and arrives at Machu Picchu on day four by sunrise. This makes the total distance of the 4-day route 43 kilometers.

The 2-day trek, on the other hand, offers a new easier trail called “Camino Sagrado del Inca,” which means the Sacred Trail. The trek climbs up to only 2,750 meters and the distance taken is only 14 kilometers. Although you may get to see more with the classic 4-day trek, the 2-day trail offers most of the best mountain sceneries. You will pass Huiñay Huayna if you take this trek and will most likely spend the night here to be able to arrive at Machu Picchu by sunrise the day after.

If you are a first-time hiker, it might be wise to check online for Machu Picchu trek reviews before booking your trek. The testimonies from former fellow hikers will give you better ideas of how the treks will be like and you will most likely find them giving essential hiking Machu Picchu information. They will also definitely sound less promotional and unbiased than the Machu Picchu trek information provided by some agency’s websites. Researching online beforehand will also give you the advantage of comparing hiking Machu Picchu prices with the facilities offered. However, normally you will get what you pay for. So it is only about which suits your interest and comfort more.

Hiking Machu Picchu trek will not only enrich your historical knowledge, but it will also reward you with personal appreciation of the nature wonders and the living things inhabiting them. So, are you adventurous enough to take one trekking trip to the great ruins?

One of the most essential things for those who enjoy hiking is the men’s hiking boots. The activity suggests quite arduous work with your feet and legs on perhaps uneven grounds and stony roads. Therefore a pair of comfortable hiking boots is important to keep you at the top spirit during the hike.

Where to wear

Choosing the best men’s hiking boots could be tricky if you don’t assess the need of wearing them before buying. First question you should ask yourself is the type of hiking you normally do. Is it day hiking or more mountaineering? Obviously day hiking boots could use lighter footwear and they are more comfortable and breathable. If you enjoy more challenging hiking trips where the routes you tend to take include uneven grounds and difficult ascending terrains like in Machu Picchu trek or Everest Base Camp trek, you may want to choose something more durable and protective. Consequently this type of boots will weigh more as they are designed to be more supportive for your feet.

Waterproof

The next thing to consider is whether you will need protection against water. Do you often go hiking in the wet season or only in summer? Wet footwear is never comfortable to wear. If you think that you might encounter some watery experience in your journey, it is best to opt for waterproof men’s hiking shoes. Hiking boots made from full-grain leather or nubuck leather could give you this waterproof advantage as well as resistance against abrasion. You could also choose water resistant membranes that offer breath-ability like Gore-Tex® or eVent®. These are usually placed at the uppers of the boots and function as water barriers. If you want lighter boots that could resist water, you should look for one that has one of these membranes.

Design

There are many different designs of men’s hiking boots in the market. From low-cut, mid-cut to high-cut boots, everything gives different advantages and disadvantages. Low-cut boots are good to wear for light walks and hikes. But as the terrains get more difficult, you may want to choose the mid-cut or high-cut boots to give you more protection from debris and other annoying particles that could get inside them. Also, these boots could give you more comfort when you have heavy luggage on your back.
Then you also have the different designs on the upper construction of the boots. However, if you want to stay drier, avoid buying boots with a lot of seams on the upper part. More seams mean more chances for water to seep through the needle holes.

Brands

Popular boots brands that have been known to manufacture high quality footwear are Asolo, Vasque and Merrell. Asolo is famous for its superiority in hiking sole protection. It produces boots that serve every hiking function and provide high comfort as well as durability. Vasque is especially noticed because of its foot springing and cushioning. It also has spine tech absorber, which helps distribute the body balance on bumpy grounds. Merrell, on the other hand, is known for its breathable hiking boots, thanks to the active heat insole. Merrell boots also take the market of somewhat overweight hikers due to its heel shock absorbing system that enables to take 4 times of the normal body weight.

How to get

Those quality boots above can be obtained either in local hiking shops or online. However, since they could be quite costly to buy, reading men’s hiking boots reviews and testimonials could be very handy before you invest in one particular model. Synchronizing your needs and your budget to buy a pair of satisfying boots is crucial if you want to have them worth your money. Especially if budget is an issue, thorough research will pay to get you cheap men’s hiking boots without degrading the quality you expect. You can either check the men’s hiking boots on sale in the local hiking stores or go through the ads offering cheap hiking boots. Some less expensive brands that still provide comfort, support and protection are like L.L. Bean, Keen and The North Face. Prices range from 50 to 100 dollars compared to the top brands mentioned earlier that range between 100 to 200 dollars.

Owning quality men’s hiking boots is highly crucial if you like hiking. But the search does not end as you get to buy them. Good treatment to the hiking boots will ensure longer life and maximum durability. So bear in mind to keep the hiking boots in good condition every time after the hike and they will stay with you for the longest time.

If you are looking for a great way to travel abroad to Europe yet not have to pay a lot of money for your vacation you may want to look into taking a camping holiday. There are many companies offering all-inclusive packages that will take you all the way from your home to one or several selected camping spots at very affordable prices.

Camping With Your Family

One of the best things you can do with your family is travel together. Although many people argue that children need stability, they also need adventure and challenges and one of the best ways to give those things to them is to go on a family camping holiday together. Camping does not have to be taxing physically and it is usually quite easily done with children; who, incidentally, usually relish the idea of camping out under the stars and living in a canvas tent or camper vans, and sleeping on camping beds.

If you are planning on camping with your family and you have younger children, you will want to gear your trip around their needs. In other words, look for campgrounds that have ample facilities for young children such as children’s swimming pools and playgrounds. Once a child is around ten years old they are often ready for more rigorous and exciting camping adventures which you can also plan for. All of this can be planned out well beforehand by working together with one of the many different camping holiday companies that offer family camping trips and family trekking holidays.

Choosing the Right Holiday Park

If you are traveling with very young children there are a few things to keep in mind. The camping holiday parks you choose to stay in should have very good amenities, including plenty of showers and bathrooms that are readily accessible; a Laundromat so you can keep up with your laundry, an indoor playroom, a kiddy pool and plenty of outdoor activities and play centers that are geared for young children. You may also want to make sure that there are some general stores in the vicinity. Often younger children are perfectly content to spend days playing around the campground.

With older children, you will want to camp in an area where there are plenty of challenging activities they can involve themselves in. Also, be prepared to make day trips to different sight-seeing spots; make your trip enjoyable and educational at the same time.

How Much Will It Cost

The cost of your camping holiday will depend on several factors. First of all, it will depend on where you will be traveling to, how long you plan on staying and your choice of accommodations. A 7-day French camping holiday will cost, on average anywhere from around $600 to $800 or more, depending on how many are traveling in your group. There are some beautiful family-friendly camping grounds in France that offer accommodations ranging from a huge family-sized, totally set up tent to bungalows, all set in a beautiful casual outdoor setting. If a camping holiday in Spain is more to your liking, you can find similar accommodations and amenities, with a trip of similar length costing you slightly less; starting off at around $450 for seven nights.

Where To Stay

When deciding on a camping holiday in France you can choose from very diverse locations including camping in the Alps, at Brittany, Picardy, Paris, Loire, and Normandy–just to name a few places with great camping facilities. In Spain, you may want to visit Taragona, Pals or Romas. In fact, you can find great family campsites that offer accommodations ranging from family sized tents to bungalows in many different countries in Europe, including Germany, Slovenia, Holland, Italy and Switzerland.

If you are looking for a relaxing camping experience with your family, you may want to check out the many different options offered by different camping holiday companies online. You will find everything you need at the different resorts which cater for all budgets and ages. So pull out your camping checklist, pack up your canvas backpack and enjoy your holiday!

If you are an adventurous traveler and you love the outdoors, you may want to grab your 1 man tent and look into the different trekking holidays offered. For a relatively cheap price it is possible to go trekking in just about any country in the world; giving you a wonderful opportunity to see different sights, to experience a different culture and to learn more about the world you live in.

Book A Holiday or Make Your Own Arrangements

If you are apprehensive about making all of your own travel arrangements, yet you want to enjoy the freedom that a trekking holiday affords, you may want to book your trekking tour or camping holiday through a travel agency. There are many agencies that specialize in trekking tours, ranging from simple walking holidays to rigorous mountain treks. Usually, when booking through an agency it is your responsibility to make your way to a specific location where you meet up with your group and begin your trek. Many people, especially those who are seasoned travelers, prefer to make their own arrangements. Oftentimes they will simply team up with one or two other people and travel, at their leisure, to different locations they want to see.

The advantages of making your own arrangements are that you can often trim the cost of your holiday quite a bit and you are able to travel where and when you like. It is extremely easy to switch your itinerary around if you decide as you are not locked into any dates or timeframe. You can also choose your own mode of transportation. With an arranged trek, you will need to follow the itinerary, however you will benefit from having an experienced guide traveling with you which is helpful particularly when you do not speak the local language.

Popular Trekking Holidays

There are many popular trekking holidays, including trekking holidays in Europe, or trekking to specific famous locations around the world such as the Mount Everest Base Camp Trek, crossing the Lycian Way or taking the Inca Trail Trek. Nepal trekking holidays offer you the opportunity to visit some of the most stunning mountainous regions in the world, with the Everest Base Camp trek only one of many available.

Trekking across Europe is an all-time favorite, especially for singles. Trekking holidays for singles through Europe will take you through mountainous regions or along pristine coastlines depending on which direction you want to take. Some of the more popular European treks include trekking through the Alps, walking the Turquoise Coast in Turkey, or visiting ruins along the Amalfi Coast.

Trekking Holidays With a Difference

There are quite a few different options, aside from walking trekking holidays. You can just as easily take a cycling tour which will enable you to cover more distance quickly, yet still enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. For something different, you may want to check out some different horse trekking holidays available. In Europe, you can ride horses around the Andalucian Coast, through rural Portugal, Ireland or Wales. There are also some fantastic treks available in Argentina, where you can stay on an Argentinean ranch and explore the countryside on pony. You can even take pony trekking holidays where you follow elephant trails through game reserves in Botswana. A rather spectacular trip, via horseback, is the Mongolian horse trekking holiday.

Why Go Trekking?

If you love adventure and the outdoors, and you enjoy really understanding different cultures there is no better option than to put on your men’s hiking boots and set off on a trekking holiday. Whether you walk, ride a bicycle or a horse, you will be sure to get to know people and learn about different countries in a very unique way. It is something you will be sure to remember all your life, as there really is no better way to get to know a region than to take your time traveling through it.

If you are a kayak or canoe enthusiast, chances are that you already have your kayak. One item, which while not essential, is extremely handy to have is a kayak trailer. Kayaks can be transported on a roof rack, or they can be pulled behind a vehicle on a trailer. They are not cheap to buy and some people prefer to design a homemade kayak trailer or buy a used kayak trailer instead.

Trailer Versus Roof Rack

In some respects a roof rack is very convenient for transporting kayaks as you do not have anything towing along behind your vehicle. However, many people find that an actual trailer is much more convenient because of the ease with which they can load and unload the kayaks. This is especially important if you are traveling in an RV or another high roofed vehicle as trying to load kayaks on and off an RV is an almost impossible task, especially if you are on your own. You can also store your kayaks on the trailer when they are not in use, whereas if you transport them on top of your vehicle you will have to invest in an alternative storage rack.

The obvious advantage of a roof rack over a trailer is that it is much less expensive to buy. You also do not have the added drag on your vehicle or the loss of maneuverability that you can sometimes experience when pulling a heavily laden trailer behind your vehicle.

Best Kayak Trailers

There are several moderately priced brands of new kayak trailers available. Both Malone and Trailex are well known brands, as is Yakima and Sportsrig. There are also many generic trailers sold at usually somewhat cheaper prices.

Malone trailers are easy to assemble and they come with complete instructions on how to do so; including what things to watch out for when assembling them. Another plus is that Malone have great customer support and they are more than willing to offer any advice or assistance needed if you have questions about their product. Their trailers are well made and lightweight. There are mixed reviews for the Trailex models. In general it seems these are better for using on good roads, however the suspension is not suitable if you are planning on driving your trailer over rugged grounds. The Yakima “Rack and Roll” trailers are both lightweight and sturdy. They pull along behind a vehicle well, and are lightweight enough to detach from your vehicle and roll to the waterfront. Sportsrig produce fine trailers, though their customer service is not always the most efficient. They are also better for fresh water kayaking, as many of their models do have a tendency to rust over time.

Cost of Kayak Trailers

Prices will depend in part on how many kayaks or canoes you intend to transport, with sizes ranging from those that will pull two kayaks to those designed to carry eight to twelve at one time. A Trailex UT-1200 designed to carry up to 16 kayaks costs around $3,600 new. A Malone 3-Kayak trailer costs quite a bit less; $1,600 brand new. However, prices also depends on other features as well. Generally, for a new aluminum kayak trailer, you should expect to pay anywhere from around $900 for a single kayak carrier up to $3,500 or more. Purchasing a dual canoe kayak trailer will often add a little to the price.

Build Your Own

If you are looking for something cheaper you may want to consider either making your own trailer or buying a secondhand one. If you want to build your own kayak trailer you will find there are several websites that have great kayak trailer plans available for free. It may require your adapting a regular trailer by adding an A, T or H frame to the back of it. If you are somewhat familiar with DIY projects, however, that is a fairly cost effective way to obtain a Kayak trailer.
